About Terry Boykin

Terry Boykin Terry Boykin is an Acyrlic and Digital Artist. He grew up on the south side of Chicago. Though the family did not have wealth, Terry often says they were “rich in the greatest form of wealth: a nurturing and affirming love.” His first “collectors” were his mother and great-aunt, who nurtured his creative gift and often said that he would become a Commercial Artist. After the death of his mother, at age 13, he lost the desire to draw. Later in life he would draw for his children, trying to encourage them to use their God-given gift of creativity. Through a friend he was introduced to painting plaster figurines. His technique brought the figurines to life. He was then introduced to Graphic Design. in 2001, while taking classes at Prairie State College and experimenting with Adobe Illustrator and Adobe Photoshop, he created his first design "A Joyful Noise”. He has created approximately 100 lively, colorful and joyful Afro-Centric Digital Art designs.

Digital Art is computer illustration or digital illustration which uses digital tools to produce images under the direct manipulation of the artist, usually through a pointing device such as a tablet or mouse. Terry’s preference is the mouse. Each one of his eye-catching colorful creations is heart-warming and amplifies movement.

In addition to Digital Art, Terry uses his graphic design talents to create logos, business cards, post cards, brochures, announcements, photo design and photo restoration. Terry has also created acrylic paintings of several of his most popular designs.

Terry’s art has been showcased at African festival of the Arts, Chicago, IL, Artisans 21 Gallery in Hyde Park, IL., Tall grass arts association in Park Forest, IL., Flavor Restaurant in Flossmoor, IL., Hyde Park Community Arts Fair in Hyde Park, IL., Homewood Art Fair, Dusable Museum Art Fair, Park Forest Art Fair and The Congressional Black Caucus, also a featured artist at the 2010 Indiana Black Expo's artist pavillion where he won “Best In Show”. Lastly, the League of Black Women used one of his designs for their Holiday Card.
